New way for moms to manage pain during labor now available in Miami Valley
KETTERING, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Mothers in the Miami Valley now have a new option for manage pain during labor.
Kettering Medical Center and Soin Medical Center are the first hospitals in the Dayton area that will offer nitrous oxide to mothers in labor. The mother breathes the nitrous oxide in through a mask during a contraction and stops using it once the contraction is over. “Nitrous oxide is a great option for women who want a more natural childbirth,” says Brenda Pearson, clinical nurse manager of Labor and Delivery at Kettering Medical Center. “The woman can administer as much or as little as she wants during labor.”
If you have questions about nitrous oxide and using it during labor, talk with your doctor or midwife.
