Man, dog killed in multi-vehicle crash in Greene County
UPDATE: Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said that 25-year-old Zachary McDaniel of Xenia drove into the intersection of State Route 72 and Clifton Road when he was hit by another person who was operating a dump truck.
The vehicle that McDaniel was driving continued moving after the initial crash, and was also hit by a semi-truck that was driving northbound on the road. McDaniel was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said all the people involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts, and they do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
GREENE CO., Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A multi-vehicle crash in Greene County has claimed the life of a man and a dog.
The crash happened on State Rt. 72 and River Road just after noon Wednesday. While the crash is under investigation, FOX 45 is told it appears the driver in the SUV ran a stop sign and was t-boned by a semi and dump truck.
The name of the victim has not been released. Authorities say there was a second dog in the vehicle that is being treated by firefighters. State Rt. 72 is closed in both directions.
