Kids from the Kettering community Shop with Cops for Christmas toys, clothing
KETTERING, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Members of the Kettering Police Department helped make a little holiday magic for kids in their community Wednesday evening.
Officers, dispatchers and staff teamed up with underprivileged children to shop at the Meijer Store for the annual Shop with Cops event.
Donations were used to buy nearly 50 kids from 17 families Christmas toys and much needed clothing.
“There’s been issues in this country with police departments and the community,” KPD Officer John Jung said, “and we work really hard to build that relationship. There are 3 core things that our police department is most focused on, and the number one priority is building a strong relationship with our community.”
Meijer, Chick-Fil-A and Victory Christian Church all chipped in to help with the event, and Kettering Police said they’ve been shopping with kids every year for more than 15 years.
