CLAY TOWNSHIP -- A new opportunity for your pooch is now ready for business this summer.

K9 Splash Zone opened this past weekend near Brookville. The facility is the brain child of local veterinarian Dr. Susan Fife who specializes in canine rehabilitation.

"This facility this was built for people and dogs, for the human animal bond..." said Dr. Fife . "It's for people to come out and enjoy their dogs, for dogs to get fit, and for dogs to do what they love."

While Dr. Fife plans to use the pool to condition her patients back to full health, some dogs will be visiting to train for serious competition.

One of these competitors is Story. She is a nearly 7-year-old black lab that is the 2015 American Kennel Club dock diving champion.

Now that K9 Splash Zone is open, she and her trainer do not have to travel far to practice for her next big event.

"She has held various records with different organizations, she loves to jump." said trainer JD McKnight.

Coming up this summer, K9 Splash Zone is hosting three cool jumping events. This includes "Summer Sizzle" during the weekend of June 30th, "Dog Days of Summer" in early August, and an American Kennel Club qualifying competition during Labor Day weekend.

"It's a really fun sport that is taking over the dog world right now." said McKnight.

The pool is regulation size for dock diving competitions. It is 45 feet long, 22 feet wide, and 4.5 feet deep.

Dogs do not have to be a patient of Dr. Fife, or be training for a diving event. The pool is available for fun during the major summer events.

The pool is available for rental during non-event weekends and weekdays. $25 will reserve it for 55 minutes during the week. The cost bumps up to $35 for 55 minutes during the weekend.
