UPDATE: Officer struck in Saturday night I-75 accident expected to be okay
UPDATE - A Miami Twp officer suffered an injury to his arm after being struck by a drunk driver on Saturday night.
Officer Tyler Simpson of the Miami Twp PD was investigating a crash involving a car and a semi on I-75 SB near SR-725 when he was struck by a drunk driver, according to Ohio State Patrol's Sgt. Simmons.
That driver, Adam Blackmore, age 33 from Miamisburg, as arrested on the scene.
Simmons said state troopers who had recently arrived on scene aided him, along with people who were nearby.
He was taken to Kettering Medical Center for an injury to his left arm.
Sgt. Simmons said Simpson is expected to be okay, but his arm is in a sling.
The drivers involved in the initial crash were not injured in the incident.
MIAMI TWP. (WKEF/WRGT) -- I-75 southbound is shut down at SR-725 after a Miami Township police cruiser was struck while responding to another accident.
Miamisburg Police say Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
The accident happened before 10 p.m. Saturday.
The backup can be seen on traffic cameras extending for miles and drivers tell FOX 45 they had been stuck for more than an hour.
