Future of old Reid Hospital in Richmond to be announced later this month
RICHMOND, Ind. (WKEF/WRGT) - Residents in Richmond, Indiana and surrounding communities of Wayne County will learn what's next for the abandoned old Reid Hospital building later this month.
The city said it will speak alongside county leaders on December 21 about the timeline and demolition of the building on Chester Boulevard.
Back in August, FOX 45 spoke with the mayor of Richmond, Dave Snow, who said the city was close to having a plan in place to tear the building down and replace it with office space. Since Reid sold the property, there have been several owners, Snow said, who have taken what they've wanted out of it and then sold it again.
Mayor Snow says the city has lined up loans from the state to cover the cost of cleaning up hazardous materials and tearing it down. He says it's about eight million dollars.
