Fundraiser helps allow our veterans to see their memorials in D.C. for free
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Honor Flight Dayton is looking for your help to keep growing and giving unique experiences to local veterans.
The nonprofit honors our World War II, Korea and Vietnam veterans by taking them to see the memorials dedicated in their honor in Washington D.C. free of charge.
The trips provide recognition, and often times closure, for the veterans, and supporters turned out at Young’s Dairy May 18 to help keep the trips going.
“We’ve calculated, this year, it costs us around $450 to sponsor one veteran,” board member for Honor Flight Larry Blackmore said, “to have one veteran go on the trip.”
Honor Flight’s next trip is scheduled for September 2, and the non-profit is still fundraising to make it happen.
