Franklin woman killed in head-on crash in Warren County
FRANKLIN TWP, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A Franklin woman was killed after two cars collided head-on late in the evening of June 17 in Warren County.
The Lebanon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 9 p.m. on State Route 123 near Shotwell Drive.
According to a media release, an 18-year-old driver of a 2003 Toyota Highlander was driving south on S.R. 123 when he fell asleep. His car then went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail before going left of center and hitting a 2008 Pontiac G6.
The front passenger of that Pontiac, 20-year-old Courtney Trent of Franklin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers were taken to Atrium Hospital to be treated for their injuries. The Highlander driver was treated and released, but the Pontiac driver had to stay for further treatment.
According to the department, speed and not wearing a seat belt were considered to be factors in the fatal crash.
