DPD putting together response plan for St. Patrick's Day
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Dayton Police are looking ahead to Saturday, and putting a plan in place for their response on St. Patrick’s Day.
They’re putting together special procedures, especially in the Oregon District and around the University of Dayton, and said they’re ready for anything, from a riot to mass arrests.
Even though they’re ready, police are encouraging anyone who goes out to party to be responsible.
“The last thing we want to do is make a lot of arrests or mess up somebody’s party or having a good time,” Major Joseph Wiesman said, “but at the same time, we do have limits of the things we can let happen.”
Police want to avoid a repeat of the riot at the University of Dayton several years ago. They’ll be out in full force to help with crowd control and check for underage drinkers.
