Dayton police officers recognized for their outstanding service
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Our first responders were recognized alongside some residents from the Dayton community May 11.
Members of the Dayton Police Department were recognized for their outstanding service, and FOX 45’s Megan O’Rourke was there to emcee the event.
In a special recognition that does not happen every year, a medal of valor was presented to Officer Jerry Dix.
In early April, a woman with mental disabilities was being transported home when she got into an argument with a worker and ran from the van she was in. She reportedly jumped over the railing of a bridge and ended up in the water, and Officer Dix jumped into the water to save her.
