DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - An 81-year-old Dayton man faces charges of murder after he reportedly stabbed his wife May 19.

Donald Cleaver, 81, faces charges of 3 counts of murder and 2 counts of felonious assault.

One of his neighbors called 911 around 1:00 a.m. to tell dispatchers that Cleaver had approached him, explaining: "I was coming outside to smoke a cigarette on my front porch, he uh, he said he just killed his wife."

The neighbor told the dispatcher Cleaver was getting in his car to drive down to the police station and turn himself in. Officers found the woman dead inside the home in the 200 block of Delmar Avenue.

Investigators say after speaking with Cleaver, they've learned that he and his wife argued Thursday night, May 18, and after she went to bed, police say Cleaver stabbed her to death. The investigation into the murder is ongoing.
