Driver loses control, crosses median and collides with semi on SR 4
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A person has been critically injured after losing control Monday morning while driving on SR 4 and colliding with a semi.
The crash happened shortly after 7:30 Monday according to Dayton Police Sgt. Kyle B. Thomas. The driver, who was in a black car, lost control while driving northbound on SR 4 just before the exit ramp to SR-444 and crossed over the median. Sgt. Thomas said after crossing the median, the driver hit a semi, causing it to jackknife and go across the median, coming to rest in the northbound lanes.
It's unclear right now what caused the driver of the black car to lose control, the driver was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in critical condition.
Another vehicle was involved in the crash and ended up in the southbound lanes. The crash prompted authorities to close the highway in both directions and re-route traffic to SR-444.
As of 1:45 Monday afternoon, the northbound lanes remained closed as investigators continue to work at the scene. However, police said the southbound lanes have reopened.
