Driver in critical condition after being trapped in car for more than an hour
DAYTON , Ohio (WRGT) - A man is in critical condition after a witness says he hydroplaned on US 35 westbound. The man ended up being trapped in his car for more than an hour.
The crash was reported by a witness around midnight on Thursday, September 8. The caller told 911 dispatchers she was on 35 westbound in the downtown area and had seen the driver hydroplane and then go over the edge of a guardrail. Rescue crews finally found the car on Jefferson Street, just north of US 35.
Emergency crews had to tear the car apart to get the driver out, he was then taken to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated. Police say they think the driver lost control, crossed over the median and entrance ramp before going off the side of the road and then slammed into a tree.
