Police: Suspects kidnap woman, use her to lure man into home and shoot him
TROTWOOD, Ohio (WRGT) - A man is in serious condition after being shot in the stomach overnight, and police say his shooting, was a set up.
It happened around 1 a.m. on Elmore Street, which is about a mile south west of Trotwood-Madison High School. Police say they are now searching for three suspects who could face assault and Kidnapping charges.
"One family member was brought back here against their will," said Trotwood Police Chief Erik Wilson. Wilson said the family member "was made to call into the house to lure them outside. This is obviously some type of set up that was planned and began outside the city."
Wilson tells FOX 45 two people were hurt, one man and one woman. The man was shot and now is in serious condition. Police say the woman was also shot but we're told she should be okay.
"There were multiple suspects outside waiting," said Wilson. "They forced the homeowner back into the house where a struggle ensued with the victim's live-in boyfriend."
A neighbor called 911 after the man who was shot showed up at his door. The caller says the victim was shot in the stomach.
Detectives are now interviewing witnesses and say there are three suspects. If you have any information you can contact Crime Stoppers at 222-STOP.
