SWINGERS CLUB LAWSUIT-VEGAS

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- David Cooper wants to bring a little more sin -- to Sin City. He's gone to a federal appeals court in an effort to open a swingers club in Las Vegas. Cooper charges that he's been unfairly denied a county business license for his "Sextasy" club. The appeals court has ruled Cooper has a "plausible claim." The Las Vegas Sun reports the "Sextasy" case is now being sent back to a lower court for reconsideration.

FAKE HUSBAND

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- The hubby was a phony. That's what authorities in Tennessee are charging. According to officials, Robert S. Hicks faked a marriage certificate so he could visit a woman held in the Johnson City Detention Facility. A local paper (Johnson City Press) reports Hicks was busted earlier this week. He's now charged with criminal simulation.

BANANA HOUSE

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- A giant banana doesn't have much appeal. At least according to officials in West Lafayette, Indiana. A huge banana is painted on the side of a two-story rental house near Purdue University. Authorities are considering whether the giant banana needs a county sign permit. The house is owned by Granite Management, which uses the fruit as its logo. But the company says the banana paint job is meant to be creative, not an ad. Purdue senior Jason Chen says he wishes he lived in the house. He took a picture of it and tells the Journal and Courier it's cool.

NATIONAL ZOO-ELEPHANT

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Bozie the elephant is in her new home. She arrived in Washington yesterday, after a more than 1,100 mile truck ride from the Baton Rouge Zoo in Louisiana. Bozie's new digs are at the recently upgraded elephant exhibit at the National Zoo. If an elephant really doesn't forget, Bozie will remember her old pal Shanthi. They lived together as young calves at an elephant orphanage in Sri Lanka decades ago. Shanthi is one of the most popular animals at the National Zoo. Bozie is the zoo's fourth elephant.
