WORKPLACE POT

DENVER (AP) -- One of Colorado's biggest marijuana businesses -- isn't high on pot on the job. The state is one of the first to legalize the once illegal weed. Now, officials of O.penVAPE have instituted a workplace drug policy. Employees can be fired for smoking weed at work, or using cocaine at any time. O.penVAPE says workers can expect random testing for drugs like coke and meth. The company has more than 125 people working in Colorado. O.penVAPE makes cartridges filled with cannabis oil and a battery-powered vaporizer that looks like a pen.

FED UP WITH SHOPPING

HERMITAGE, Pa. (AP) -- "Fed up" with shopping -- and now an 81-year-old West Virginia man is accused of choking his wife. State police say Ralph Ross told them he "lost it" and was "fed up" with shopping at a Wal-Mart with his wife Mary. Police say Ross pushed a shopping cart into the electric cart his wife was using, then choked and shook her. He's now charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

STRIP CLUB TAX

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The wages of sin aren't quite as much as Illinois officials had figured. The strip club tax generated less than 400-grand last year. Officials estimated it would bring in a million bucks when legislators passed in 2012. It's the so-called pole tax -- as in stripper pole. But the tax only applies to clubs that serve booze. It doesn't effect strip clubs in Chicago, where the sale of alcohol is banned. The tax figures were reported by the Springfield bureau of Lee Enterprises newspapers.

LLAMA ON THE LAM

TRINIDAD, Colo. (AP) -- A llama is on the lam in southern Colorado. The animal has been spotted on the campus of Trinidad State Junior College. School officials say the llama isn't aggressive but won't let anyone get too close. Police followed the animal to the edge of town, where it apparently scampered off into the foothills. Police figure the llama escaped from someone in the area.
