Wall of Justice: Mont. Co. Sheriff asking for your help finding convicted sex offender
WALL OF JUSTICE: The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help finding a convicted sex offender.
Jason McCoppin is registered as a tier-one sex offender in the county.
“Currently he has a warrant for failure to register,” Detective Brian Conley said. “He was due to register with the sheriff’s office in March.”
The detective, and the department, has been looking for him ever since.
“He has some previous underlying charges and convictions for the same offense,” he said. “We have an idea of the areas that he hangs out in; it’s just a matter of finding him.
Conley told FOX 45’s Elyse Coulter he knows McCoppin's stomping grounds.
“He hands out mostly in the East Third Street, east Dayton area,” Conley said. “Also the Riverside area, and we do know he has some connections in Beavercreek and also Middletown area as well.”
McCoppin was convicted of gross sexual imposition, and the charge does stem from an offense involving an adult. He had to register as a sex offender after the conviction, so it’s the law that detectives know where he’s staying.
“What Mr. McCoppin is doing is kind of a slap in the face, really,” Conley said. “It’s that he can do whatever he wants and feels that he doesn’t have to follow the law.”
If you know where McCoppin is, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at 222-STOP. You can remain anonymous.
